As a theater actor, John has appeared on the stages of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Hollywood Bowl, Pasadena Playhouse, Antaeus Theatre Company and the Pacific Resident Theatre, of which he was a founding member. In addition, he is an award-winning theater director with 37 productions to his credit. Onscreen, John spent four seasons as Marine Colonel Clifford Blakely on the CBS series JAG and was a series regular on Comedy Central’s The Clinic. He also appeared on 18 Wheels of Justice, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, in addition to numerous guest-starring and voice-acting roles. John earned a B.A. in theater studies and English from Yale and was among the first students to receive an M.F.A. in acting from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. He is currently an associate professor of theater practice at the USC's School of Dramatic Arts.
