Israeli Coffee Shop NYC – K’Far
Designed to foster the simple, timeless act of gathering around a table and sharing food with family, friends, and neighbors, K’Far draws a certain crowd right off the bat. These formerly-young professionals spent the 2010’s held hostage at their company’s WeWork of choice, and now self-identify as “Elder Millennials.” They’re still suckers for an open floor plan and excessive foliage. But more importantly, they want good food at all times of the day.
In the dining room, salmon chairs and custom tiling add to the warm, inviting vibe. A 40-seat outdoor patio will be opened in warmer weather. In the kitchen, Chef/Owner Tomer Blechman is crafting modern takes on traditional Mediterranean fare, using seasonal produce and local meats and fish to create a well-rounded menu with something for everyone.
Israeli Inspiration: Sampling NYC’s Israeli Coffee Shop Scene
Zatar also serves several signature cocktails and Israeli wines. But it’s the lunch and brunch service where they really shine. A small menu includes salads, grilled cheese sandwiches and pitas, hot entrees like chicken shawarma and falafel, and pastries, including the pistachio sticky buns that made them famous.
In a separate room is their Israeli Coffee Shop NYC, which serves a range of coffees, espresso, and teas along with sweet treats like donuts and cookies. It’s also where you’ll find the evocative hafooch, a traditional cappuccino that combines more water and less milk than what was originally served at Ayat, which the owners of K’Far describe as the original Israeli coffee.
